Drugstore haul and review

Hey beauties! Last month Walgreens was having a buy one get one 50 percent off sale and I had coupons so I couldn't say no. This is what I got...

It’s the winter time which means dry skin dry skin. Lately I have been doing my makeup when I get on campus and face would be dry for the maybe 10 or 15 minutes I have been outside since I washed and moisturized my face. So I finally purchased Maybelline’s Dream Fresh BB cream to apply to my face when I get to campus (You are actually suppose to apply this before you leave your house) and my face feels smoother, lighter and less oily then when I used other moisturizers. Of course, its darker then my actual complexion but you can’t tell that is once I rub it in. I was hoping that the bb cream would help correct redness because I have a major issue with that. It kind of helps with it which is exciting because I can get a moisturizer, sunscreen and redness corrector all in one for I think $10 instead of me buying a primer from smashbox or makeup forever for about $30. By 5 my face was oily! It looked like I moisturized my face with Crisco, this was day one but day 2 when I got home from work at 10 my face wasn’t oily AT ALL which is weird. Maybe my skin had to get use to this new product.

I am really new to blushes I didn’t think I would ever wear blush but after trying the bh cosmetics professional blush palette I decided that I would continue to try blushes.
I really wanted to try the Glaze Sticks something NEW from Maybelline and I adore these! I only got two I think I will get the other three the next time I go.
If you are new to blushes I would recommend just pinched pink. When you apply it looks very light it’s noticeable but not dramatic, it’s very soft and neutral. It gives you a glow sometimes if it’s more of a shine then a glow I will use a powder blush to set it a little and it knocks that shine out. This I am definitely buying again I do recommend it and it’s already a favorite of mine.

I also got  which is too light for a blush for my complexion but can be used as a highlighter I love it because it is sooooo shimmery and when I used it as a highlighter underneath my eyes I got a lot complements on my makeup that day. I wasn't to sure about continuing to use it as a highlight but obviously it wasn't to bad!
Pinched Pink

L'Oreal Voluminous butterfly mascara:
This Mascara is life!
  • To me it's better than Benefit Cosmetics they're real. It works the same but is a few dollars cheaper.
  • Clump free
  • All you need is one good coat sometimes two and you are fine.
  • Long lasting, no need for a reapplication
  • A MUST HAVE

L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes review can be found in my Top 10 products under $10 (click here)

I am absolutely in love with these colors especially:

Plush Plum from the L'Oreal
It should be called Plush Plum Perfection because it is amazing!

  • It applies smoothly
  • It's dark but not too dark so it will look good on any complexion
  • It has a nice shine not to glossy looking it's just right for a soft shine.
  • Great for fall (I'm going to wear it year round)
  • It moisturizes your lips so your lips as soft as an application of blistex
Most of the time I always but on chapstick before I apply any lip product to prevent my lips from looking awful and chappy. Thank the lipstick experts for this lip balm because I don't have to apply any chapstick it gets the work done. I do suggest this one only. I tried a lot more of the lip balms and I was not impressed that's another post.

Maybeline's Summer Sunset Is amazing
  • It's neutral
  • Goes well with my skin
  • Its gives a neutral makeup look a classy finish
  • It's not that chalky (but apply chapstick before applying this)
  • It's a brown burgundy color
Overall I am impressed and I will save it for next fall I am not that impressed to use it year round.

Maybeline's Broadway Bronze
I hate it, it was too chalky for me. Bottom line I tried to use my urban decay lip gloss that came with my Naked 2 pallete didn't help. Still awful.

Maybeline's Perfect Plum
  • It's kind of choclatey
  • It's dark but not to dark
  • Good for the fall or a night out

Mayebelline The Elixir line I thought was getting lipstick but when I got home I opened it and saw lip gloss I wasn't mad I actually thought it was a cute idea, I like the packaging. I got two colors just to try it.
Captivating Carnation
  •                It smells like bath and body works warm vanilla sugar or whatever it is called! I don’t wear bath and body works but I know that scent. And I kind of think that it is weird this gloss smells like this it makes my mouth feel like I ate some of the bath and body work product.
  •            I LOVE the color, it gives my lips a red tint
  •                It’s not extremely glossy like the cheap lip glosses you can find in the hair store that we loved when we were younger but it definitely has a shine to it.
  •        It has a soft look I am always scared of my lips having that chalky look. This gloss does not give your lips that look which is great

Petal Plush gets a big thumbs down

  • It is a frosty pink
  • It makes my lips look REALLY chalky worst then the lipstick from the hair store kind of chalky
  • It's just awful

Ignore the mary kay products and the hair products that will be another post!

Maybelline Lash stiletto

  • Waterproof
  • First application my lashes were long 'false lashes'
  • Second application my lashes became fuller
  • Third application my lashes were bolder, darker fuller and more extended
When applying your third application if you use that many be careful because it can and will clump! Not sure if I would purchase this again.

Maybelline Mega Plush Volume Express

  • The reason I chose this one was one the color it matches my favorite cup (my Mason jar cup, every southern girl needs one) and two the brush, I thought that with this brush it would have really extended my lashes and make them POP just a little more than an average brush. I only used two applications this, on the first one it really extended my lashes with the 2nd application my lashes appeared to be fuller, bolder and darker I love love love the combination. This can get a little clumpy though. If you are looking for something with more of a fuller effect then extending the lashes then go with this. This is not a mascara I would purchase again being I love my lashes to look big and bold all day without having to reapply reapply and reapply.
The 24 hour color tattoo by maybelline

I purchased two of these because I wanted to try something new but not go over board. I am glad I didn't go overboard because It started creasing at about four hours, then it was like "where did my eyeshadow go?" So I obviously wasn't impressed, I can take creasing but not my eyesdaow "disappearing"

Beauty Product Review

Hey beauties the other day I went to Target and spent more money then I expected to. My first plan was to get a new foundation and left with two. My second plan was to buy stocking stuffers for my mom which I accomplished, I probably got more stocking stuffers then I should've gotten. THEN, of course the plan doesn't stop there, I am visiting my grandparents in Missouri and we all know I'm a southern girl and an thing below 60 degrees is cold! So I had to buy a scarf and gloves but I only got a scarf. So I got everything I needed to get and a more.

If there is anything I must have is BIG LASHES. So I'm always trying new mascara espically if it's on sale and this L'Oreal Voluminous mascara was on sale and being I have brown eyes I got carbon black to bring my eyes and make them seem a little lighter. I would not recommend this masacara to anyone I will stick to my L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes.

PROS:
  • It did bring my eyes out they were light and beautiful well they are always beautiful
  • My eye lashes were big and bold for only 5 seconds so I wouldn't really say that is good
CONS:
  • It does NOT give a dramatic volume like it says it will
  • My lashes clumped together
  • Hard to take off

The next L'Oreal product I tried was a foundation: True match classic tan. I don't usually try products unless it says hypoallergenic, I also have a hard time trying to find the right foundation for my complexion. I always have to use two different shades and blend and blend and blend. I made the biggest mistake and instead of trying the foundation on I compared it to the foundation I already use (covergirl tawny) I stopped using that because it made me look cakey. So back back to L'Oreal
PROS:
  • I like how the foundation feels when I apply it, it has a smooth feeling to it.
  • My skin doesn't look so oily
  • Without concealer it covered my scars well which surprised me
CONS:
  • It smells bad.
  • I look like a oompa loompa, bad spray tan gone WRONG
  • Makes me look a little cakey

On to Maybelline Fit Me foundation I got the 330 and I have never used a Maybelline foundation before and I am impressed...

PROS:
  • Applies so smoothly
  • Doesn't smell
  • I don't look oily
  • Blends in well with my complexion
  • A matte finish (surprised me)
No Cons for this product I am totally in love with this!

I also picked up a new face cleanser I have tried noxzema, St. Ives apricot scrub, many neutrogena products and etc. etc. I stood in the aisle for five minutes trying to decide on what I wanted to try. I went with clearasil because I always see nice commercials and the price is great! The product is decent I can't really give a full review yet I need a another month to see some results but I will say that my face is looking and feeling softer.  When I first started using this product it was causing irritation underneath my eyes, which I'm no longer experiencing.

I don't really wear nail polish like that because I can't wear it because of work. But I still have to buy them for summer because I always have my feet out so my favorite nail polish is the Sally Hansen red carpet. I love it because it's red one of my favorite colors and all the sparkle in it I love shimmer and glitter, but it chips  so easily, so I think I'm going to try to find a Essie nail polish like this on my next trip to the store. Anyways the thing about any Xtreme wear polish chips so easily but I love the colors they offer but they can be watery. So if you are always in to something I advise you NOT to use this brand on my next post I will have more nail polish in different brands well have a peachy day or night beauties!

My top 10 favorites under $10

Hi beauties! I thought since my blog is about "balling on a budget" I thought I would do a post of 10 of my favorite products under 10 dollars. These are just random products that I love and that are affordable. Prices do vary when you go to certain stores I reccomend that you go to wal mart for majority of these products unless target is having a little sale the products will be a little cheaper, avoid going to the drug stores because they always raise the prices of products.

1. Jergens Skin firming lotion (almost any kind of jergens I love)
It's fall, but in North Carolina it feels like winter! There is saying "light skin people don't need lotion." In fact it doesn't matter what your complexion, race or sex is you need to lotion. Who wants to touch someone with dry skin? I know I don't, so I recommend Jergens if you don't want to pay 10 or more dollars for good lotion like Eucerin. Right now I am trying the Skin firming lotion that I got from Wal Mart for $5! I apply it to my skin after I get out the shower (it's best to use lotion when your skin is damp.) The lotion has a wonderful smell and keeps you feeling smooth and smelling nice.

2. Nourishing coconut milk hibiscus creamy body wash from organix
My mom bought this for me last Christmas it was apart of my natural product hair basket (the best thing you can buy [put to together] someone that's natural) anyways when I first saw that organix had body wash I got sooo excited because this is my favorite hair product brand so I could only imagine if it has saved my dry hair I'm sure it could save my dry skin, which it did. This body wash is definitely nourishing and it smells SOOO good I like to use this if I'm going somewhere because the smell last for a while. Since I started using this body wash my skin has gotten a little softer.

3. Renewing moroccan argan oil intense moisturizing treatment organix
Once again another organix product and my mom bought this as well. I was newly natural last December and my TWA basically my little afro needed everything to help it grow and keep it from getting dry. If you have dry hair I highly RECOMMEND this product because this works MAGIC! I like to cover my hair with this treatment and put my plastic shower cap on my head like instructed and I get in my steaming hot shower for better results. You are suppose to keep it on your hair for 3 to 5 minutes I like to get it on a little longer then I rinse with warm water and it's the most amazing feeling ever.

4. L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes
I am a mascara lover, if there is anything I love about myself it would be my eyelashes. They are so long and thick I just love them so much. I have tried many mascaras and by far this one is my favorite. My eyelashes are so full and long when I use this mascara and it brings out my beautiful brown eyes and my eyes appear to be bigger. and the other best part is I got it on sale!

5. True blue Mini Walnut Shell Smoothing foot scrub from bath and body works
I have had this for a while and it's rare when I use it, but when I do my feet so soft including my hands from using the product, plus it smells amazing. This is my favorite product going into spring, because the harsh winter weather dries out my feet well my skin period I haven't found a body scrub to amount to this foot scrub yet. The best time to get this is after Christmas it's original price is $6 but I am sure I paid less then that.

6. True blue spa shea it isn't so bath and body works
This lotion is from the bath and body works spa line too and this is a must have I am not sure if they sell it still I don't go into bath and body works often I only go after Christmas and I have had this longer then the foot scrub. I sure hope they have it still because paying $6 for something that makes your feet feel as"smooth as a baby's bottom" just blows my mind. This lotion is 8 times better then the jergens so if you already use jergens then you can only imagine how great this product is.

7. Neutrogena Naturals Acne Spot treatment
I am always searching for something for my sensitive skin something that will clear my acne or to get rid of a scar. I had never tried any of the Neutrogena Naturals product but after using this I think I will try more of their products. If you are using the treatment to clear your skin it should clear your scar within three weeks (that's how it works for me)

8. Tea Tree Oil
This oil is good for anything that you can think of; dark skin, your hair and your nails it works for everything! I like to use it on my nails during the spring because during the winter your nails can become brittle because of the cold temperature and tea tree oil will harden and thicken your nails. If you have bad dandruff this a good oil to use on your hair. For some people tea tree oil makes the dandruff  worst  for some it clears it up. You can also use an ample amount for acne, eczema, cuts and burns. If you have a cold you can put a couple of drops in your bath. It's also good for cleaning too! If you mix two tablespoons and two cups of water in a spray bottle you have a all purpose cleaner. It depends where you go to get tea tree oil to find a nice price you can go to a natural home and food market or wal mart.

9. Almay Clear Complexion Concealer
Concealer can be used for many things but I use this to help get rid of my acne and acne scars which it does so well with that If you constantly use it my only problem with it is I have a hard time rubbing it into my skin this is the only concealer I have used so I'm not sure if they are all like that but I love this one just because it's Almay and you know this brand is for people with sensitive skin and the fact that it clears your skin I had to buy it.

10. E.L.F blending eye brush
For this to be a dollar it works magic! I call this brush my eyeshadow fixer, because whenever I mess up or I think I may have used too much color I grab this brush and it does it's job I blend and blend and the problem is fixed. Some people say there brush sheds, this brush doesn't, I guess I got a good one but some of my other elf brushes do shed like my total face brush that's just so fluffy I love it beside the shedding anyways I lost my first blending brush and if I loose something I loose it I won't go and buy the SAME exact thing again but I did because it's just that great. Sometimes cheap is good!

Well beauties that's ten products and I hope that you all will go and buy these products because are they AMMMAZZZINGG! Have a great day :)
